I created this piece as a commission for dear friends to celebrate a milestone birthday. I used photographs provided by the family, both directly and as collage textures, as well as my own images, to first build a digital collage. Then I mounted the digital collage to a wood panel, wrapping the edges of the print around the frame, and covered the image with layers of encaustic wax, scraping, incising, and smoothing to add texture.
