My Policies on Privacy

I appreciate your contributions to this site, whether it’s your  comments or custom orders, and I want to protect your data. Here’s what happens to the information you enter, mostly handled by my website structure, WordPress, and helpful addons.

Collected Data

Comments

When you leave comments here, my site software collects the data shown in the comments form, and your computer address and browser identification, to help spam detection.

Since I use Gravatar software for commenters to sign in, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.  See more information on the Gravatar service privacy policy here. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to other site visitors.

Contact Forms

If you submit a custom order, I receive the content as an email, and respond directly to you. I keep the data you submitted as a record of our transaction, but I don’t use that information to contact you for any reason other than what you’re ordering or asking about.

Cookies

If you leave a comment for me, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Analytics

I use Google to track where my site visitors come from, but I can’t see anything individually identifying about you. For more information, visit Google’s privacy pages.

What Happens to the Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so the software can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you sign up for my newsletter, on my Contact page, your information will be stored with my account on mailchimp.com. Otherwise, I don’t share any of your data with anyone else.

Your  comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Your contact form information is sent to my private email and your newsletter contact information is sent to Mailchimp.

Your Rights to Your Data

If you have left comments, signed up for my newsletter, or requested a custom order, you can request to receive the personal data I have about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data of yours that my site is holding. If for any reason, I need the data for security, legal, or administrative purposes, I get to keep that.

I do everything I can to make sure this site is secure. I read up on WordPress best practices, and make sure only I, and nobody else, can get into the site. Please let me know if you have any concerns. See my Contact page to get in touch.
