As a fan of genealogy, I knew that the mother of the first Ruest in Canada was named Chanu. But when I came across it on an actual storefront in Normandy, it brought me to a dead halt. Sure, my ancestors got on boats 400 years ago; that doesn’t seem real. But this, this made it real. So thankful their trip was recorded for me to discover all those years later.
