How to Keep Work Flowing

I am in the process of being amazed by all the updates, blog posts, and work posted in the art community. How do you guys all do it? I can barely keep up with Twitter feeds, let alone make art on a daily basis in order to have something to share.

Last month, as I was struck by how important holiday shopping is for small businesses and artists, I thought: perhaps workflow is best broken up into chunks during the year.

  • Fall: Sell, while folks are in a holiday/buying mood
  • Winter: Create new work, explore
  • Spring: Polish and refine
  • Summer: Market, find some venues, update sites

Then recently (read: whenever I started this blog post!), I had another aha! moment. I actually have three separate bodies of work on the go:

  1. Last year’s work, to market
  2. This year’s work, to create
  3. Next year’s work, to gather, ponder, research

Which means, to me, that working on any phase thereof is okay. Though it’s still hard to justify Twitter more than once a day… How do YOU keep things moving on all fronts?

Chime in!
