Connecting through the Ether

I am missing conversation, especially about art, and those random connections that happen when you bump into people! While I’m normally happy to make art on my own, there is a buzz from connecting with other creative types. Ideas bounce around between our brains, and turn into new work before you know it.

In the before-times, that happened at our local art walks and open studio events. Events, you say? Such a cute concept these days! For the next while, even as businesses in Seattle open up a bit, many of us won’t feel safe mingling with others. What to do?

I might have found a good answer while we wait: a platform that specializes in building community, Mighty Networks. Their business model makes sense to me: I can pay them a reasonable monthly fee if I’m building out a community or business; otherwise it’s free, and private, for me and people who join. In practice, it feels like a Facebook group, without the ads and tracking that come with the social media giant.

Some of us are happy to be creating and not going out, have too many social platforms to check, and that’s fine, of course. But if you’re based in the Seattle area, looking for another way to feel out your ideas, find a conversation, or maybe that spark for a new concept, please join me here.

UPDATE: Disbanded, but still open to ideas along these lines. Let me know!
