It’s holiday open house time, and I want to celebrate — something! I’ve been feeling so appreciative of art & creative folks this year, and I’d love to include that sense of wonder that spreads when people & ideas intermingle. So, to mark the end of this long year, I’d like to share a new, short series that pulls from many influences, my Pattern Project work.
Since each row uses the same watercolor layer, and each column uses the same collage layer, the series presents as a grid: you can see the transitions along the rows and columns. But how might I do that? A big Photoshop poster, left? SO hard to align. Or fine art prints? Pricey! And then I remembered: postcards. Easy to print in a larger size, good quality, accessible price.
Pattern Project, Printed
Each element of the pattern project, all 36 iterations, was available as a single, 9″x6″ print on sturdy, coated paper for $25.

On the back, I noted the row & column of the piece, as you can see, and signed and dated it. There will be no other editions of this work, so you’ll have the only piece. And it’s only for a limited time: prints were available online through December 10 — that’s it!
Join the Celebration
To match our new hybrid world, I had options for you to participate. First, I hosted an event at the studio, featuring the display of the whole series, arranged by row & column.
But I wanted to stay accessible to anyone who’s not up for an in-person visit. Based on the hybrid studio event I tried this spring, it’s worth continuing in some form. So, for those of you who are unable to get to me, I offered virtual and online options.
Studio Event
Please join me, if you can, the first weekend in December. The Pattern Project pieces will be displayed at my studio, where you can see the pieces up close, and decide if any are coming home with you. Pieces will disappear from the grid as they’re claimed, either online or in person.
Dates: Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5
Studio Hours: 10 am to 4 pm
Location: 4604 14th Ave NW, Seattle
Safety: Please wear a mask to visit, regardless of vaccination status. All studio hosts are fully vaccinated and will be masked, with air flowing, and plenty of hand sanitizer.
My studio mates, Joan & Nancy Bazaz, will have a delightful assortment of their lovely art — jewelry, handmade prints, glass — as they’ve done for many years, and our neighbors, Salty Dog and Building C, have events that weekend too.
If you’re in the area, but would prefer an alternate day, let’s talk about a studio appointment December 6-10.
Virtual Options
To view the prints, see my Pattern Project page and click on the individual pieces to see a slide show. To order prints, visit my Pattern Project Print Orders page, which will go live the weekend of the sale, and continue through the following week. Would you like a video tour of the pieces in my studio? Let me know.
Dates: Saturday, December 4 through Friday, December 10
Orders: Pattern Project Print Orders
I’m looking forward to celebrating community and creativity, in whatever way works for you — I hope you can join me!
