When I stumbled across two different references to painted tissue paper, I knew I had to experiment for myself. I’d never considered trying this: would tissue paper even hold up? Off I went to the youtubes.
I tried painting onto wet & dry paper, and let it evaporate on deli paper. Here’s one of the deli paper remnants, including some stubborn tissue paper.

It didn’t all separate well — I’ll need more experiments to figure out why, but I’m happy with the results. And what a surprise that the deli paper took such beautiful impressions itself! This looks geological to me, and I can’t wait to try it as a layer in Photoshop, on its own, or to build up textures and colors.
