Between a recent storm in Seattle, and lots of gatherings, it was a quiet week.
Meetings & Making
I kept playing with the idea of mostly covering up. What should show through? Each of my urban pieces now have a new, covering layer, with an altered hue, plus a word, obscured by the layers.

As I pondered that, I gave my lovely square sketchbook some attention, too.

It’s so soothing to sit and make marks, maybe splattering water, pasting on a torn edge, or trying something out, only to improve on it.
Viewing
I was really hoping to catch Sara Everett‘s show at Slipstitch, which promised to be up through the end of the month.

What with the quiet week, I struck out at several places wisely taking some of the weekend off, including this one. Here’s what I could see from the door, with daylight assisting. It looks stunning!

People! Look at this gorgeous frame! Like a small tabletop frame for sharing photos, but this one is a full 9″x12″ image. Loaded with a sampling of my portfolio, it looks pretty great.

This feels like it would have some value in a display situation: the images scroll through a shuffled order. But: there’s no captioning, and even I don’t remember what the heck I called pieces from several years ago. Plus, image management is through an application on my phone… Still, it does do the images justice. Food for thought? Or not, if you’re still full from American Thanksgiving. :) I hope you had a quiet week too.
Darn that early gallery closure that day! Glad you could catch a view of the installation though.
I bet you will look back on these weekly posts and be able to mine whole new ideas from the breadcrumbs you’ve trailed. Lovely to see you at art walk – happy holidays!
