Read Me
In a very abstract way, the composition of this piece reminded me of an old bound book. Encaustic collage © Liz Ruest 2008 Mixed media encaustic on board 12″x12″ x 1/2″ deep: Private collection
Lobby
This abstracted geometric image grew from an almost obscured photograph of a hotel lobby in New York City, barely visible in the bottom center. While the shot was admittedly out of focus, I was attracted to the way that the light then seemed so much softer, and it tied the composition and colors together beautifully….
Sunday Morning
If I squinted, this piece looked like the kitchen table on Sunday morning, after the paper, the crossword puzzle, and a few cups of coffee. All comforting thoughts! Encaustic collage © 2008 Liz Ruest Displayed July 2010 at artEAST‘s members’ show. Mixed media on board, 12″x12″ x 1/2″ deep: Private collection.
