On My Mind
I've got more travel ahead in my life -- oh darn! But it brings up the problem of how to make art while away on adventures. I used to use my camera, but have lost the habit with more abstract work. So, I spent September thinking about that: how can I use photography but stay abstract and collage-like?
The conclusion: use the camera to find collage fodder elements and abstract compositions, instead of my old standbys of horizons and trees. I think this is gonna be fun!

Down the road at the studio, I'm collecting bigger analog pieces ever so slowly: lots of texture, not a lot of cohesion. Although I bumped into a lovely technique, tonking, that might be a way through. I welcome studio visits to help me parse out what's developing here.

I've got just a few weeks before my next travel adventure. I hope you have some enticing fall plans, either buckling down to work, heading out to find new ideas, or cozying up with a book or three. Let me know -- maybe all three?
