An exploration of abstraction and minimalism, constrained further: square compositions, composed only of 5 rectangles. The sketches are executed on beautiful handmade watercolor paper with lovely rough deckle edges.

The inspiration is from a New York Times article, describing the mathematical research involved in finding all the variations of rectangles within the square. Here are all the options, which looked like a great sketchbook project to me:
