A Dream Venue: Sassafras!

I am thrilled to announce that my art, on silk scarves, is available at my fave local shop, Sassafras!

Update: Sassafras has wound down their regular retail efforts. Thank you to everyone who bought my scarves and enjoyed this special place!

Since moving into the city, I’ve frequented this lovely shop in Belltown, full of designers, wonderful clothes and jewelry, and creativity in general. Every time I’ve been there, whether I spot something fantastic to buy or not, I’ve been greeted with a sense of hospitality and generosity. The place is brimming with color and ideas bouncing off one another.

Early on, I brainstormed with one of the designers there, Katy Flynn of KFLY Seattle, about getting my work onto fabric for her to use. Too complicated, and too many layers of production! During the pandemic, the shop was a refuge, supplying wonderful fabric masks and cute hair clips. And when I started seeing silk scarves as an option for printing, and shared them with owner Amy Tipton, the idea became very real.

I’ve been leaning on scarves myself, as a wardrobe perk-me-up, for years, and even more so lately, on video calls. I’m really pleased with how my latest abstract pieces look on a simple square piece of silk. These scarves are silk charmeuse, thick and shiny, printed by a Montreal company, ArtofWhere, with good turnaround time and production values. Interested? Head over to Sassafras’s page for scarves, bags & berets.

Yes, this is yet another printing option (see my other choices here), but one I’m trying just with this local shop. I’m always evaluating good options for products and availability, and in this case, testing whether you’d rather grab an item directly & locally, instead of printing yourself and waiting for delivery. Let me know what you think. Better yet, let Sassafras know too!

Chime in!
