Bazaz Studios has a decades-long tradition of a holiday show the first weekend in December, and while we’ll pull it off again this year, changes are definitely afoot.
When: Saturday and Sunday, December 2 & 3, 10-5 pm
Where: Bazaz Studios, 4604 14th Ave NW, Seattle
Sadly, this year’s been a tough one for my studio mate, as Joan Bazaz lost her sister Nancy in late summer. Nancy is sorely missed — I loved her eye for design, her jewelry, and her clear-eyed take on life. Joan will have some of her remaining pieces available during the show, to remember her by.
Changes are circling for me too, as I re-evaluate how to approach my art and its reach. I’ve really enjoyed these last six years of shared creative space and camaraderie, and while I’ll continue working in the space, this is likely my last public event. When I moved in, late fall in 2017, I was just in time for that holiday show weekend. I appreciate everyone who’s come out to visit then or since, and I’d love to see you here one more time.
Because the future isn’t certain for me, I haven’t committed to a lot of new work. But a good dig through studio treasures is in order, is it not? Here’s one: I’m working on special pricing for my framed pieces from the Adaptive Horizons series, created as I moved into the city.

Of course, I’ll have the usual experiments and work in progress, plus plenty of smaller pieces for you to explore. And then there’s a few small collages and handmade cards, as well as items printed from Redbubble as samples. And as is common for this weekend, there are lots of other events for you to bundle. Come say hi to our new studio neighbor, Lindsey, and our friends on the corner, Salty Dog Studios, with similar visiting hours.
So, here’s how we’ll do it: I’ll hang out for the usual open house, the first weekend in December, then host studio appointments for the week that follows. Let me know if you’d like to meet up at a different time, or get a virtual tour. To see what items I’ve got at the studio, check the Inventory tag.
Stay tuned as I figure out what’s next — but for now, it’s studio prep time!
