The view from above is not the usual one, when we’re mired in our own stuff.
With this palette, it’s easy to think of desert, and hence mesas. The base collage here, created in 2022, was an experiment with graphite blocks — that rich brown texture! When I added a bit of map, some dressmaking tissue, and a few scribbles, it was done and deemed scan-worthy.
Additions in the digital version include watercolour washes, a rectangle, recent scribbles, and some selective pink from a gelli print, described for a similar base piece in this post, Adjusting Layers. Another piece, 3 years in the making.
