with the stars

Stand out in the fields and look up.

This piece, origininating in 2021, was nominated to be not-pink. In different variations, it was cream, and before that, there wasn’t a clear colour winner. At some point, though, I decided each piece needed a dominant colour, and I do love a soft teal.

The analog piece here is “through all the years”, with its own blues and browns. There are layers from 2022 (a detail collage), 2023 (a gelli print), and 2024 (the wash of teal over the top). That gelli print was an experiment with vegetables — leeks! — and gave me what look like crop circles across the bottom. Other scribbles are acting as rivers, and some scrap financial envelopes give me the tight grids of civilization imposing itself on the surface of the earth.
