all over him

Dilemma: how to impose a grid on a triangle? As I worked on this series, I committed to a grid structure as one of the unifying elements, but the underlying composition here was strongly triangular. Solution: insert a bit of horizon to retake the triangle. Result: abstract landscape with a sense of history.

The original handmade collage is very textural, created on a day when I wanted to use up small scraps. I buried the bits & bobs under tissue paper for dimension, and finished with a triangular overlay and some chalk. Digital layers helped me add the sense of history, with botanical elements like dried flowers and lichen, symbols of the past like Celtic patterns and stone carving, and faded yellows and straws as a complementary palette.
