The British Landscape

Dale: Digital collage © 2010 Liz RuestJust back from my third visit to Scotland, and it’s still true: there’s something so compelling and inspirational about the British countryside. Here’s one of my compositions from there, Dale.

Compared to the long views of the Skagit Valley farmland, the horizons in England and Scotland have a more immediate focal point. Trees and old buildings catch your eye on the way to the sky.

I try to visit as often as I can, using any excuse (husband’s family needs a visit? A friend hasn’t been?) to get more shots. Others have the same impulse, as seen here http://www.photographyblogger.net/20-lovely-photos-of-the-british-countryside/. Whether it’s castles, trees, or rolling hills and hedgerows, I’m drawn in, and want to go back almost as soon as I’m home again. What gets you itching to hop on a plane?
