nether millstone

Gritty streets salvaged by the odd tree and warm colors.

This piece has layers from all over: a tree from Bellevue’s wonderful botanical gardens is on the top left; a distinct roofline from Scotland is beside it, and echoed again at the bottom right, and the large letters are from a faded, painted sign on Alcatraz Island. Lots of built-up texture layers contribute here — teals, browns, and reds, as well as the inclusion of a smaller collage, 30 layers itself.
