number of the counting

As we strolled through the rows of toppling graves in Glasgow, I was struck by the sense of family and network that the city was built from. The same sense of history is everywhere in Scotland, from highland castles to steep city streets.

Leave it to collage to allow me to combine imagery from all these places — Inverness, Edinburgh, and Glasgow — together! The base collage, similar to “exactly so“, has a vertical emphasis and building shapes, so a more architectural theme seemed to fit.

I’ve merged a distant view of Castle Urquhart, from the shores of Loch Ness, into the Edinburgh skyline, and added a long-shadowed section of the Glasgow Necropolis to finish it. Text and Celtic knots from graves there add detail, and stonework plus textural colors of soft yellow and terracotta unify the look.
